The Mortal God

If in the eye of man you see reflect
The mind of God; of good, of love and grace
Then turn your wand'ring eye and let it rest
Upon the God reflected in my face

The God indeed, for loving like a God
I watch you from above and little say
For love of you I cannot speak a word
Though to me such a word might light the way

And like a God no power do I hold
But that in me were someone to believe
My radiant light would fade into the cold
Were you, my lone disciple, lost to me

Yet I am not a God but half a man
And seeing this you pass me by again

Is Laughter the Best Medicine?

"Be funny about the whole thing!"
They tell me so I try.
Seems though it always turns out
I always make them cry.

Laugh when you are in trouble,
You'll have a sunny day.
When your welts start to bubble,
Chuckle your cares away.

I once tried a practical joke
My friend said, "It's funny!"
Now I feel sorry for the bloke,
Now his lunch's all runny.

Prank called the old groc'ry woman.
She cried! I regret I did
Ask for Prince Albert in a can.
I didn't know he was dead!

Way out West it's called T.P.ing,
'redecorating' someone's lawn.
The cops watched the others fleeing.
All I could do is yawn.

I once set up a pity date
I thought it'd be a roar
Match up the two people I hate,
Now in love, ever more.

I went to a comedy show
For a reason to laugh.
There was one thing I didn't know,
Now my beeper's in half.

Sis' hauled me to a fun movie,
Said I needed "cheered up."
Choked on popcorn, nearly killed me
'Till I urped in her cup.

Melancholy may not be bad
In our society,
Depending on the life you've had.
Maybe that's sanity!

Dreams

You'd be in my dreams if my dreams were better
'Cuz I've never dreamed of anything like you
I've never imagined you could love me
I just hope our days are never though
And that our end never comes
All I see is a faint image of you
I'm not good enough to dream of you
And my love is bursting my heart at its sides
You're all my dreams ever were and more
Some people say their dreams came true
But I'll say my dreams were outdone
when you were at my door

Inside Out

On my outside I smile
On my outside I grin
but look deep in my eye
And you see within
Inside I'm begging
Screaming someone help me
Inside I'm crying for what can never be
If only someone would reach out a hand
If only someone could understand
These storms raging inside me
Understand these things they can't see
You look on the outside because it's easy
A glance at my outside, I'm plain as can be
Seeing what's outside lets you ignore
The fact that inside there's so much more
So much more pain
So much to gain
So much to me that you don't see
